On the second Thursday in October, eyewear and eye care professionals around the world come together in celebration of World Sight Day (WSD). This day of awareness aims to shine an important light on blindness and vision impairment affecting populations across the globe.

World Sight Day 2018
“Eye Care Everywhere” was the theme of this year’s World Sight Day. There are an estimated 1.2 billion people who don’t have access to proper eyewear, and connecting these communities with the healthcare and eyewear they need is part of the multinational effort behind WSD. With a global action plan and a variety of online educational materials and helpful resources, organizations like The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) are using WSD as a platform to make a meaningful impact.
